Industrial gelatin is an animal-collagen-derived protein used for binding, coating and adhesive development. Technical grade selection should focus on the stated test conditions as well as the measured values.
Chemical identity
Industrial gelatin is a technical gelatin material derived from animal collagen. It is supplied as granules for industrial processing. The specification defines gel strength, viscosity, pH, ash, moisture and other quality parameters.
Sulfur dioxide, chromium and heavy metals are included in the technical quality profile. Store the material dry and protect the closed package from sunlight.
Matching the process to the grade
Working viscosity influences mixing, application and coating uniformity. Gel strength and setting behaviour affect the handling of the bonded or coated article.
Test these properties at the concentration and temperature used in production. Technical gelatin and edible or pharmaceutical gelatin are separate supply grades, so request the grade intended for the actual process.
Application and purchasing notes
Industrial gelatin is used in suitable adhesive systems, coating and binding processes. Compare transparency, moisture and ash with the formulation requirements, and confirm performance under your processing conditions.
Include viscosity or gel-strength requirements when requesting a sample or quotation, and review the batch COA against the agreed specification.
